Educational Exchange Week January 28th to February 1st - Design and Architecture

iWeek

We live in a globalized world where the possibilities of communication and transmission of information every day exceeds the expectations created yesterday. It is essential not to lose the sight of the benefits and opportunities offered by the local culture as departure point to address strategies overall project and design to develop them with a sustainable basis.

The exchange of teaching approaches and the transmission of different design strategies can be the key to understanding what aspects are intrinsic to our disciplines and which in turn permit or require a higher degree of adaptability to local conditions related to cultural and physical reality. Knowledge of the local facts and their interaction with the global design strategies are the bases that allow a friendly approximation to the future physical, economic and cultural context.

The objectives of this encounter are:

  • To share teaching strategies and methodological disciplines around practical or theoretical disciplines linked to the studies of Design and Architecture.
  • To discover different specific realities of the European context in our disciplines, emphasizing those approaches more specifically linked to each local culture. The overlapping of realities should reflect both the wide range of existing and potential synergies and also the contact points between the parties.
  • To share strategies and points of view for generating sustainable designs and to develop a comparative between different local realities.

Activities:

  • Lectures and conferences.
  • Thematic workshops and special classes.
  • Exhibition of results and discussions in public sessions.
  • Site visits to Valencia for foreign teachers.

The results of the exchange will be compiled in an educational publication including the articles, classes and other material produced for or during the international week. The program is open to all the scholars interested in the subject coming from any European institution, and will be based in the ERASMUS Staff Mobility grants.

Dates: From January 28 to February 1, 2013.
