La investigación sobre los métodos de cálculo es un campoemergente que abarca un amplio espectro de disciplinas científicas, como puedenser la Matemática Computacional, la Física Computacional, la BiologíaCuantitativa y la Mecánica computacional, entre otras. Las preguntasfundamentales que se plantean en estos campos nos llevan a la búsqueda denuevos algoritmos, estructuras y métodos que permitan comprender y simular la realidadfísica que nos rodea. La interacción

entre la computación científica y el resto de disciplinasconstituye el nexo central de nuestra investigación.
