Senior researcher with a 35-year academic career and a coherent research trajectory from digital and participatory journalism to cross-border collaborative journalism, media ethics, disinformation and artificial intelligence. Co-PI/PI of five competitive National R&D Plan projects and six additional institutionally funded projects; 70+ scholarly publications; three recognised six-year research periods (sexenios). Publication record includes international Q1/Q2 journals such as Media and Communication, Journalism Practice, Revista de Comunicación and El Profesional de la Información, as well as Routledge. Supervised 12 doctoral theses, five of them award-winning.
CURRENT POSITION AND ACADEMIC LEADERSHIP
• Associate Professor (Profesora Titular), Department of Communication and Journalistic Information, Universidad CEU Cardenal Herrera, Valencia, Spain. University teaching and research career since 1990.
• Deputy Coordinator, PhD Programme in Social Communication, CEINDO International Doctoral School (since 2022). Previously Director of two doctoral programmes in Communication and an official Master’s in Journalism; former Head of Department and Vice-Dean of Journalism.
• Head, Ethics of Society and Ethics of Communication Working Group, International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR), 2015–2025. Member of IAMCR, ICA, SEP and the Spanish Federation of Journalists’ Associations (FAPE).

• Visiting/research positions at the University of Texas (USA); City University of London (UK); Institute for New Media Studies, University of Minnesota (USA); University of Quebec in Montreal (Canada); and University of Canterbury (New Zealand).

Pioneer in digital and collaborative journalism research. Co-Principal Investigator of “Media Alliances as an Engine for Journalism’s Survival in the Face of Disintermediation and Disinformation: Cross-Border Collaborative Journalism Consortia and Projects” (CROSSMEDIA-EU, PID2021-125724OB-C21). Previously Principal Investigator of four National R&D projects: CSO2016-80703-R, CSO2011-29510-C03-02, BSO2003-08535/CPSO and SEJ2006-15495. These include “Opportunities and Challenges for Journalism in Open Environments: A Study of Social Voices around Traditional Media and New-Generation Participatory Sites” (CSO2016-80703-R) and “Survival of Journalism in the Post-Digital Era: Consequences of Citizen Participation in Journalism” (CSO2011-29510-C03-02). She also led six projects funded by Universidad CEU Cardenal Herrera: PRCEU-UCH 06/04, PRCEU-UCH 04/36, PRCEU-UCH 02/29, PRCEU-UCH 03/05, CEU-UCH.PRCEU-UCH 05/15 and PRCEU-UCH34/09. In all of them she developed innovative methodologies. Member of the Excellence Network “Towards Inclusive Journalism: Convergence and the Role of Spanish Journalism in the Global Communication Scenario” (CSO2016-81882 REDT, 01/07/2017–30/06/2019), led by Dr Pere Masip, and of Cibercom – Digital Media and Communication in a Transforming Information Ecosystem (RED2022-134211-T), funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities and led by Dr Simón Peña. Member of the GIAIP research group, Universidad Complutense de Madrid, since 2016, and of GUREIKER, University of the Basque Country, for 2026–2029.
