First year: Anatomy, assessment and initial treatment techniques

The human body at the center. In this first year of the Physiotherapy Degree, we delve into the knowledge of our anatomy and how it functions, from a theoretical perspective while already introducing practical activities. Throughout the year we study both the physical aspects (Physiology, Biology, Biochemistry) and also the psychological side of the patient, whom we will also begin to examine, assess and treat.

Second and third years : General techniques, specific techniques and clinical specialties

During the second and third years, we shape our profile as physiotherapy professionals: we study pathologies, develop our clinical reasoning, and apply it in advanced simulation classrooms. A practical journey that leads us to master general treatment techniques and explore multiple clinical specialties: pediatrics, geriatrics, neurology, sports and cardio-respiratory, among others.

Fourth year: Fewer theory classes: many more practicals

With all the knowledge acquired so far, it's time to come into contact with real patients. This fourth year of the Physiotherapy Degree can be summed up in one word: practice. Up to six different placements so that all students can train in the six main specialties the profession offers: outpatient and inpatient traumatology/orthopedics, pediatrics, geriatrics, neurology, and cardio-respiratory. With a total of more than 1,200 hours of practical training, it is one of the most extensive programs offered in Europe.

The Degree in Physiotherapy has a duration of 4 years and of 240 ECTS.

Know and understand the morphology, physiology, pathology, and behavior of healthy and ill individuals in their natural and social environments.
Know and understand the sciences, models, techniques, and instruments that underpin and develop physiotherapy.
Know and understand physiotherapeutic methods, procedures, and interventions, aimed both at clinical therapy for rehabilitation or functional recovery, and at activities for health promotion and maintenance.
Acquire adequate clinical experience to develop intellectual skills and technical/manual abilities; to integrate ethical and professional values; and to consolidate the ability to apply acquired knowledge to real cases in hospital, outpatient, primary care, and community settings.
Assess the patient’s functional status, considering physical, psychological, and social aspects.
Diagnose physiotherapy care needs using internationally recognized standards and validated tools.
Design physiotherapy intervention plans based on criteria of appropriateness, validity, and efficiency.
Implement, direct, and coordinate physiotherapy intervention plans, using therapeutic tools adapted to each patient.
Evaluate treatment outcomes in relation to set objectives.
Prepare discharge reports once physiotherapy care goals are met.
Provide effective physiotherapy care, offering comprehensive assistance to patients.
Engage in health promotion, prevention, protection, and recovery.
Work effectively in professional teams structured uni- or multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary within healthcare organizations.
Integrate ethical and legal principles and consider social and community aspects in decision-making.
Participate in the development of evidence-based physiotherapy care protocols and promote professional activities that advance research in physiotherapy.
Carry out physiotherapeutic interventions based on comprehensive healthcare through multiprofessional cooperation and process integration.

Develop clinical management skills including efficient use of healthcare resources and planning, management, and control activities in physiotherapy units and coordination with other services.

Design and apply therapeutic exercises using special methods for orthopedic diseases/injuries and spinal disorders.
