In this session we will discuss about the research experience and results obtained during author’s stays as visitor scholar (2012, 2014) at Veterinary Medicine Teaching and Research Centre (VMTRC, UCDavis, California).

The author is going to describe their involvement in two lines of research:

- Transfer of passive immunity in calves

- Diagnosis and treatment of lameness in cattle

A second goal of the conference is to explain veterinary students’ training in the VMTRC. The presentation offers some thoughts about the significance of research, internationalization of students and search for job opportunities, which may be of interest to the CEU community and for general audience.

Ángel García Muñoz was graduated in Veterinary Medicine in 1988 by the Complutense University of Madrid (Spain). For over a decade he was in charge of large dairy herds, as technical director. In 1998 he did a PhD on proportional morbidity of infectious agents producing neonatal diarrhea in calves and he got a position as part-time lecturer in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, UCM Spain (1997-2000). In 2000 Angel García DVM PhD was selected by Cargill for the position of Product Manager of ruminants (cattle, sheep, goats and wild ruminants).  Since 2001 he works as professor in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, UCH CEU, Valencia (Spain).

Destinatarios

The Journal Club may be of interest to PhD candidates, students interested in research and especially to Veterinary Medicine Scholl students. I suggest to spread the session through the Official College of Veterinarians of Valencia.
